UK Horse Racing Tips: Exeter

A winner of three of his four starts around here, RADDON TOP is something of a course specialist and there is every reason to believe he can bounce back to winning ways on his return. The ground may not be ideal but the nine-year-old should still have too much for The Composeur, who ran a cracker on his return to hurdles at Huntingdon last month. Caspers Court and Langley Hundred are likely to figure as well.

McFabulous was pitched in at the deep end on his chase debut at Wincanton but was pulled up before halfway, and it is difficult to know what to expect here. The safer option may be CAMPROND, who was progressive throughout last season over hurdles and was victorious at the Punchestown Festival. Philip Hobbs' charge will love the ground and is taken to get the better of Unexpected Party.

A chance can be taken on newcomer WESTERN GENERAL, who shaped with promise in an Irish point-to-point in February and is a half-brother to Grade 3 winner Shantreusse. The four-year-old can double up for last year's winning connections, with Listed bumper winner Timeforatune and impressive Newton Abbot scorer Far Sight looking best placed to chase him home. Aldsworth and Hungry Hill both performed well on their respective debuts and are open to improvement.

It's difficult to gauge what DAN'S CHOSEN actually achieved when he galloped just two rivals into submission over this trip at Fakenham 19 days ago, but the manner of that performance suggests all is rosy with Philip Hobbs' gelding and he looks the pick of this bunch. Johnny B is open to improvement over fences and is a worthy alternative given that he likes a good test of stamina. William Philo is also noted.

Mr Glass has ability but hasn't run since being turned over at short odds in a three-horse race at Chepstow in March. However, he's had a wind operation since then and may well eclipse that effort. Nevertheless, MASTERS LEGACY is proven over this trip and, having proved his well-being with a C&D success 10 days ago, he makes more appeal. Hidden Heroics can pick up the pieces in the event of any jumping mishaps.

LUTINEBELLA, who was a good third in the Grade 2 mares bumper at Aintree in April, should be wiser after going close on her hurdles bow at Warwick last month. She is hard to oppose in this company. Others to bear in mind include Dime Store Cowgirl, a recruit from the pointing scene with an appealing jumping pedigree, and the well-bred Sister Saint, who runs for a shrewd yard and may improve after a wind operation.

With the Paul Nicholls string in fine form it could be folly to ignore the chances of the unraced Imprevu Du Large and the market may tell us more. A chance is taken on MICRONORMOUS. Third in a Ballyknock point-to-point and a daughter of top sire Walk In The Park, she may make the most of her fillies allowance here. Point-to-point winner Carrigmoorna Rowan and Aintree bumper second Broomfields Cave are others to consider.
