The Evan Williams trained SABBATHICAL (best priced at 9/4) won this race last season and should hold strong claims of a repeat win following an encouraging reappearance run. The seven-year-old won this race last season by 21 lengths off a mark of 102 in impressive style before following up later that season over hurdles off a mark of 100.

Sabbathical made an encouraging reappearance over hurdles when 4th at Ffos Las off a mark of 100 and he now gets to run here off the same mark which makes him 2lbs lower than last year. He won this race on his second start last season so that reappearance run should put him spot on for this and he should prove hard to beat with Adam Wedge back on board.

The Toby Lawes trained ONEWAYOROTHER (best priced at 5/6) was an impressive winner of his only previous career start and he should prove hard to beat on his hurdling debut. The four-year-old won a Kempton bumper by 5 lengths in impressive fashion beating Itso Fury who has subsequently boosted the form with two victories already this season.

Toby Lawes is currently operating at a 26% strike rate this season so his stable are running well and he is expected to make a winning hurdling debut in what looks a very winnable novice hurdle.

The Milton Harris trained MULLENBEG (best priced at EVENS) was a top class bumper performer last season who hasn’t quite lived up to expectations over hurdles so far. The five-year-old won at Ludlow on her debut under rules before following up by 5 ½ lengths in a listed bumper at Cheltenham on her second start. She didn’t appreciate the soft ground at Sandown on her next start before bouncing back to finish 2nd at Cheltenham in April.

Mullenbeg finished 3rd on her hurdling debut on her reappearance at Market Rasen before finishing 2nd at Huntingdon on her next start. She got off the mark over hurdles at Plumpton last time by 10 lengths and the handicapper has given her an opening handicap mark of 108 which looks lenient based on her bumper form.
