CORBETTS CROSS has to concede weight all round but might be capable of doing so, allowing for his riders valuable 5lb claim. The former point-to-point winner was successful under Rules in a Cork bumper last month, so clearly has that winning habit. That can't be said about too many of his rivals here, so class may well prevail. Silver Gazette has been placed on his latest two starts in maiden company, so has at least shown himself to be competitive in this grade. Easy Fella shaped well on his hurdling debut at Punchestown and with just the two career starts, he is open to improvement. Davy Russell is a significant booking here. Ahead of The Posse and Landrake are others to consider in an open contest.

GREEN GLORY can continue the excellent recent form of the Charles Byrnes stable. A big-priced winner of a bumper at the Punchestown Festival, the five-year-old has shaped with plenty of promise on two runs over flights. The bare form of his recent fourth at Galway looks strong in the context of this race, so he is clearly the one to beat. Meetingofthewaters finished a place in front of the selection when they met at Cork last month but Green Glory made a mistake at the final flight which arguably cost him third. On overall form, one would expect the Byrnes horse to reverse those placings. However, Meetingofthewaters is a smart horse in his own right, so should be involved. Ballybawn Belter is another from that aforementioned Cork maiden that has her chance.

VISCHIO might still have a little in hand off her current hurdles mark, having won twice on the flat this summer. The Dick Donohoe-trained mare capitalised on a rating of 103 at Tramore in August but such was the authority of that success, she could still be nicely treated off 112. Blanketontheground has been running well of late and has the services of the excellent Michael O'Sullivan on this occasion. Doctor Churchill was well beaten in two recent runs but had been a smart juvenile last season. He may well have needed his initial run at Ballinrobe but it is hard to make excuses for his latest effort at Listowel. West Cork Wildway should be all the better for a recent spin on the flat at Listowel, so has to be considered for Paul O'Flynn and Darragh O'Keeffe.

Slight preference is for SCARLET AND DOVE over Elimay. The selection gave weight to Elimay when narrowly defeated twice, last January and March, but reversed placings when winning well at Punchestown on today's terms. Both are suited by this distance and fitness will play a part on testing ground. Ballyshannon Rose is race-fit and likes heavy and while not disgraced being beaten by Saturday's Paddy Power Chase runner-up last month, she again tackles formidable rivals and has 14lb to find. Dolcita disappointed in the Punchestown race won by the selection and while she receives weight, has plenty to prove against high class, open mares. Lightly weighted Western Zara has only 5lb to find on adjusted ratings but has run just twice over fences while Minx Tiara has 10lb to find and needs to improve.

The top three are closely matched on adjusted ratings with BLUE LORD finishing last season on an upward curve. Most of his form is over two miles but has Grade 1 form at this distance, goes on testing ground and is seemingly Paul Townend's pick over stablemate Tornado Flyer. Tornado Flyer won the King George last Christmas under today's regular rider Danny Mullins and while he possesses the strongest form, was beaten 51 lengths at Auteuil in May, and previously disappointed at Cheltenham and Punchestown. Race-fit, in-form Darasso has done most of his running on a sound surface in Ireland but has heavy-ground French form in the past and is helped by receiving weight from the top two. Grade 1-placed novice chaser Pencilfulloflead fell on a reappearance run last December, when running in a first-time tongue tie, and hasn't shown worthwhile form since January 2021.

Unexposed WOMALKO makes his reappearance for a new yard and is rated 21lb lower over fences than hurdles. Runner-up in a four year old point-to-point, he has won just once over hurdles but landed a useful handicap hurdle last Christmas and should have no trouble reverting to fences, on suitably soft ground. Bonnie Kellie, with winning soft-ground form, is rated 11lb lower in this sphere and while well held in two recent runs, is race-fit and unexposed over fences. Pensioner Capture The Drama has a zest for life, defeating Fly De Megaudais to win at Clonmel and wasn't beaten far at Fairyhouse nine days ago. Kingston Kid is suited by testing ground and this distance but was well held in a first-time tongue-tie in September, which is left off today. Early Arrival has been running well from his rating while West Breeze showed some encouragement before falling at the second last at Cork but has top weight.

TRANSMISSION has point-to-point and hurdle form and is race-fit. He reappeared following a summer's break at Wexford and while well held in second, the winner is a fine type with the third, fourth and fifth-placed horses each having previously won bumpers. Sa Fureur was a promising third in a Fairyhouse bumper last November, with the dead-heating winners, fourth and seventh-placed horses all winning subsequently. It is encouraging to see him reappear in another bumper but he meets a race-fit selection. Six year old Diamboy Des Carres wasn't beaten far in a heavy-ground bumper last month but might bump into a few too strong, running in a first-time hood. Champagne Fame's bumper form is on good ground while Fine Margin ran well on reappearance at Thurles but needs to improve to win.
