I was going to side with HALF SHOT at Hexham last week but he was pulled out and this looks an even more winnable contest so I see no reason to oppose. Confidence will be high following a 10-length romp over fences at Sedgefield and he should take a lot of beating reverting back to timber. He won really impressively over hurdles at Perth back in April and if you forgive that Hexham blip where he clearly didn’t give his running he has been in rude health winning two of his last three.

The yard are in good form and he has more positives than most in here. Idilico has won over C&D and he found himself back in the winners enclosure at Perth back in the summer. He was given too much to do when last seen at Sedgefield and I expect him to emerge as the main danger to the selection here.

I’m extremely confident that we haven’t seen the best of GRIVETANA yet and I thought there was enough promise in her reappearance run at Newbury to make her a standout in this field. She just ran a bit fresh the last day and probably exerted too much energy early on in the race. I liked the way she stuck to the task once headed though and she still had some good horses in behind despite finishing second. She remains unexposed and she will be winning sooner rather than later off her current mark.

It has been a while since Lightly Squeezed went on that winning sequence but he could still be capable especially seeing as the handicapper has given him a chance now. American Gerry won two of his last three starts but usually needs his reappearance run so will come on for this.
