The eight-year-old should appreciate dropping back in distance, with his sole win under Rules coming over the minimum trip when making all at Naas over fences. It would be no great surprise to see the gelding race prominently from the outset. Lakomet Of Saints has yet to show anything of note over hurdles but was a decent sort on the Flat and appears well treated off his hurdles rating. The four-year-old faces a stiff task giving weight away to his elders but could be capable of a big run. Barbaha Queen, A Mere Bagatelle and O Mio Babbino are others to consider in a competitive heat for this grade.

HAND OVER FIST can gain a first career win on just his second start in handicap company. The Henry De Bromhead-trained gelding showed ability in three maiden hurdles before shaping with distinct promise when third on his handicap debut at Wexford. As one of the most unexposed horses in this race, he looks the one to beat. Coconut Tudor needs to put a trio of disappointing efforts behind him but could be interesting in first-time cheekpieces. The six-year-old was only beat a neck in a maiden hurdle over this course and distance in April. Huit Reflets went close on his handicap debut at Gowran Park in March and was entitled to need his recent reappearance at Sligo. The Liz Doyle-trained gelding is a live contender if at his peak.

A point-to-point winner in January, MAHLER APPEAL was appearing for the first time since then when promoted to second behind an easy winner at Galway last month. That handicap debut was over 3m on testing ground so he should handle conditions and will strip fitter with that comeback run under his belt. Problem Solver ran well on the inside track here last season and appreciated the step up to this trip when getting up close home at Tipperary. The locally-trained contender is now 6lb higher but is open to further improvement. Well Polly also has winning form over 3m and is ground versatile. She was a fair way behind the selection when fourth at Galway, though, and may struggle to reverse that form.

Mark Molloy has been doing well with mares over the last two seasons and GILT RIDE has good claims here in the hands of Jody Townend. The half-sister to smart jumpers Johns Spirit and The Game Changer was placed on debut at Listowel but last month's Punchestown sixth is even better form with the second, third and fifth from that race having all won bumpers since. Shecouldbeanything was snapped up for 68,000 pounds after easily winning a point-to-point in April and looks an obvious danger on Rules debut with her powerful yard in flying form. Della Casa Lunga has performed creditably on all three starts and was beaten only three lengths in bumpers at Ballinrobe and Tipperary. A tongue-tie is fitted and she may be capable of contending if handling softer ground here.
