Steve Ryder is back with three tips for today's action.
The David Pipe trained SHOT BOII (best priced at 11/8) won over this course and distance on his reappearance and he should prove hard to beat off a 4lb higher mark. The five-year-old has won two out of the four starts in handicaps including on handicap debut at Ffos Las when fitted with first time cheekpieces.
The handicapper has raised Shot Boii 4lbs for his neck victory over this course and distance last time but the pair pulled 20 lengths clear of the third so it looks strong form and I expect this progressive gelding to follow up in this race with Fergus Gillard taking off a handy 3lbs.
This looks a competitive 0-115 novices’ handicap hurdle but preference goes to JET OF MAGIC (best priced at 11/8) who won easily on his stable debut for Paul Nicholls earlier this month. The six-year-old had previously won two handicap hurdles for Oliver Greenall before finishing down the field on his final start for previous connections.
Jet Of Magic was a well supported evens favourite when making a winning stable debut at Hereford by 11 lengths and the handicapper has raised him 8lbs for that victory. He instead runs here under a 7lb penalty so he is 1lb “well in” at the weights but he also gets the assistance of Freddie Gordon who claims 7lbs off his back. I Spy A Diva, who has won his previous two starts, looks the biggest danger but I expect Jet Of Magic to make it 2/2 for the Champion Trainer.
The Ben Pauling trained MUCHO MAS (best priced at 11/4) finished a close 2nd on his chasing debut last time at Bangor at he should hold strong claims off a 2lb higher mark. That was the six-year-olds first start since a wind operation at the end of last season and he ran well to finish only a neck behind the winner Arizona Cardinal.
Ben Pauling has made a good start to the season and could have some well handicapped horses this year and Mucho Mas is expected to go one better in this race with Kielan Woods, who rode him to victory at Doncaster last year, taking over in the saddle.
