I thought there was lots to like about the way DASH OF BLUE won on chase debut at Southwell three weeks ago. He overcame a lengthy absence in the process and was much the best at the finish. He is obviously hugely unexposed and up just 4lb from that looks the one to beat again here. He took it up with three to jump last time having raced handily throughout so it will be interesting to see if they adopt similar tactics here.

There isn’t a great deal of pace on so he could end up going forward. Hiway One O Three landed a hat-trick of wins over hurdles to cap off last season and shaped encouragingly when fourth at Lingfield on return tackling fences for the first time. If he improves he should be the danger. Happy News is interesting as she can go particularly well fresh.

There is good reason to think DOLLAR BAE could be well handicapped off an opening mark of 101. She has bumped into two progressive types since going hurdling first chasing home Call Me Tara at Warwick and then finding Poetic Music too strong at Ludlow. The latter has since finished third to Luccia and that could be very good form indeed. Jonjo O’Neill has likely schooled her plenty since we saw her last month and if she can jump more fluently she will be difficult to beat here.

Somewhat Cloudy didn’t shape badly on reappearance at Carlisle and down 2lb if improving for the run could be the danger. Toughasoldboots needs to bounce back but is still just a four-year-old and might have more to come yet. Angels Landing could get competitive but doesn’t find winning easy.
