It wasn’t the best experience for CORRIGEEN ROCK on chase debut at Perth taking a fall at just the fifth fence. It was good to see him back on track at Kelso though and I loved the way he stayed on strongly to the line. This will likely be a good test too despite dropping back slightly in trip and with improvement to come he should take a bit of beating under Derek Fox. He is only 2lb higher here so has a fair bit of scope from a handicapping perspective. Rose Sea Has is likeable and his form is pretty consistent so I expect him to give the selection most to think about. Casa Tall has won 3 times over fences but will need to leave that reappearance run at Kempton behind as that wasn’t too convincing beaten a long way. Heartbreak Kid looked promising winning at Sedgefield and Uttoxeter last season before badly going off the boil so a bit to prove on return.

The majority of these rivals are exposed so BENEFICIARY really catches the eye. This son of Profitable shaped with plenty of promise on his first two starts earlier in the year. He improved on his debut third when nailed on the line over C&D back in February. That was a good race and it hasn’t worked out badly since. He returned from a break to make the breakthrough at Southwell last month and now the penny seems to have dropped I think he can kick on. He was headed late last time before rallying and getting back up so this step back up to 6f should help him. Coaxing was beaten less than a length at Southwell last time and seems to be gradually coming to the boil so could be the danger. Blazing Son finally got his head in front at Redcar in testing ground and is still just a 4yo so if finding improvement could also be involved in the finish here.
