GYTO's Saturday Notebook Double pays 10/1.
This step up to 3 miles on handicap debut should be the making of IMPERIAL STORM and he looks well placed to open his account over hurdles. Inexperience got the better of him when runner-up at Market Rasen on debut in this sphere back in the summer. He put in a much more polished performance to finish third behind Knowsley Road at Chepstow last month and the two horses in front of him that day both look nice prospects. An opening mark of 115 may well underestimate him and he should take a lot of beating here. Jack Hogan claims a valuable 7lb too which will only aid his cause further. You Some Boy has plenty of experience to draw upon and ran well beaten less than a length at Kelso so could be the danger. Learntalot needs to leave that last run behind but it is still early days for him.
The four-timer may well be on the cards for the likeable WAYFINDER at Chepstow on Saturday. He absolutely loves this track with form figures of 12111 and I love the way he jumped en route to victory here on return last time. The handicapper applies more pressure with an 8lb rise but you’d be foolish to oppose him in his current mood. He’ll likely be ridden forward again but he doesn’t have to lead and if he gets into a nice rhythm under Paddy Brennan he is the most likely winner. Secret Reprieve won the Welsh Grand National last year and won this en route to that. He has been badly out of form the last twice and pulled up at Carlisle on return but could still be a danger here. Secret Investor is also plenty talented but we haven’t seen him since beating Clan Des Obeaux at Newbury last year so the market should prove informative.
