The four-year-old gave a good account from the rear of the field when runner-up over C&D last time out and he gets the tentative vote. Yimou only found one rival too strong last time out at Chelmsford and rates the most immediate danger in these calmer waters. Bethersden Boy is also of interest.

With the bottom third of the runners set to race from out of the handicap, the task facing LOTHIAN could have been a lot tougher in his bid to exploit a very lenient current rating. Michael Attwater's gelding is 10lb below his last winning mark and is fancied to make the most of this good opportunity. The in-form Admirable Lad is respected but needs a personal best on these terms, so Dazzerling may be a stronger player on this occasion.

QUEEN OF IPANEMA recorded a fifth successive victory at Wolverhampton last time out and the progressive three-year-old gets the nod to continue her ascendancy in her toughest assignment yet. The daughter of Teofilo showed a willing attitude to land the spoils on that occasion and she may be able to repeat that feat off 3lb higher. There are plenty of potential dangers, though, including Viola, who steps into calmer waters after failing to fire in Listed company on her latest outing. Sea Tsarina appeared to dislike the testing conditions at Thirsk when last seen and she merits consideration returning to an artificial surface.

ALGIERS recorded a career-best effort when the chestnut was headed in the dying strides over C&D last month. The son of Sharmadal was only denied by a progressive three-year-old and, considering he pulled three lengths clear of Harrovian (third) on that occasion, he is fancied to record a sixth career victory in this contest. The latter has been somewhat inconsistent this term but rates the most immediate danger on his best form. Makinmedoit showed a willing attitude to claim a first victory on an artificial surface and the sole three-year-old could take a step forward.
