UK Horse Racing Tips: Wolverhampton

A taking winner on his handicap debut at Lingfield in November, FLYING SPIRIT must hold every chance of following up, despite a 5lb rise. The son of Harry Angel gets the vote ahead of Lady Wormsley, who has been runner-up on his last two starts, and Mister X, who was a determined winner over C&D last time out. Crocodile Roll has just over a length to find with the selection from their recent meeting and he is 4lb better off with that rival now.

The vote goes to EURYTHMICAL, who has shown more than enough ability in three career outings to suggest that she can get off the mark. The step up in trip here is another major plus and she can see off Guiteau, who contested the Windsor Castle in June but has not shown anything since his debut second at Windsor in May. Resilient Power wasn't beaten far over this trip at Lingfield last month and must enter calculations.

Abbey's Dream is bound to be popular here, having been runner-up on her last two starts and not beaten far on either occasion. Preference, however, is for SUPASPECIALAWESOME, who arrives with an almost identical profile but may be open to more improvement on just his third start after going so close at Kempton last month. Insolente could be one to watch on her second outing for new connections, while Tilt At Windmills ran with credit on her debut at Newcastle earlier in the month.

LADY PERCIVAL will arrive full of confidence following two impressive C&D wins and, despite a further 5lb rise in the ratings, she is very much the one to beat. The obvious danger looks to be Longsider, a past course scorer who was placed off this mark at Chelmsford last time. Brasca drops in class from his latest assignment and might fare best of the remainder.

Great State certainly wasn't stopping over 5f here last time and is respected in his follow-up bid, but SERGEANT PEP shades the verdict. He wasn't disgraced behind the 90-rated Al Dasim on debut over C&D and normal improvement should put him bang there at the finish in this. Macho Mania also has solid form claims, while Give Me Respect and Midnightattheoasis are both interesting newcomers.

The 2020 (Venturous) and 2021 (Tone The Barone) winners both line up again and merit consideration, but ALLIGATOR ALLEY could emerge victorious this time around. The consistent gelding readily justified favouritism at Southwell recently and a 4lb rise for that success may not be enough to anchor him. The dropped-in-class Strong Power adds further spice to the race with first-time cheekpieces fitted.

BRAZEN IDOL wasn't quite at his best when returning from just over two months off at Southwell last time. That said, there is every chance he may have needed that outing and improvement may be forthcoming. Idoapologise arrives in search of a third victory in four outings, both of those wins coming at Lingfield, and the five-year-old warrants plenty of respect, while El Hombre and Mighty Gurkha are others capable of a decent showing.

SELFISH BRIAN has been running with credit on his last couple of starts since being stepped up in distance. Nigel Tinkler's gelding was runner-up at Southwell on Thursday and a repeat of that display could see him back to winning ways. Heatherdown Hero is capable of being in the mix following his recent fourth at Southwell, while Ward Castle and Aryaah complete the shortlist.
