For a 9yo BEATING THE ODDS is still relatively lightly raced and I thought there was lots to like about his reappearance run when beaten just 3 lengths into second at Thurles last month. The winner Arctic Ambition did it nicely but he beat the rest easily and they were really well strung out in behind. That was only his sixth start over fences so there is good reason to expect further improvement and he should strip fitter from that outing as well. This looks winnable and I think he represents better value than the favourite Temptationinmilan.

The latter won nicely at Listowel back in September but has been a beaten favourite the last twice and didn’t find a great deal last time making mistakes along the way. A bigger threat may well come from Glenloe who has been pulled up the last twice but is dangerously well handicapped if rediscovering some form. Ciao Bella is another one that should get competitive on handicap chase debut.
