GYTO's Wednesday Notebook Double pays 9/1.
13:15 Hereford
With two wins from four starts over fences EMIR SACREE may well be up to making a winning return at Hereford on Wednesday. He really impressed winning fresh this time last year and while he failed to build on that at Doncaster and Ffos Las, freshened up again he won impressively at Chepstow on last start. He was put away after and has undergone wind surgery and up 5lb he should take a lot of beating on return. He is clearly one to catch when fresh and he is still armed with plenty of potential.
Nocte Volatus has an engine but he can make an error as we saw wen he fell at Huntingdon and then again he unseated at Haydock on final start last season. If putting in a clear round he is the danger but don’t dismiss Galop De Chasse either as he bumped into Gunsight Ridge at Aintree and then ran well in defeat again when fourth at Exeter last time.
14:53 Taunton
Back from a lengthy absence PARRAMOUNT shaped encouragingly when third at Stratford and quickly improved on that to win head in chest at Hereford last month. This half-brother to Snow Leopardess was well backed the last day and made all the running to win by 10 lengths. He goes handicapping now off a mark of 115 but after just the two starts over hurdles you’d be amazed if he didn’t improve a fair bit again.
This is tougher but he could be a really nice prospect so gets a confident vote to follow up. Beau Balko also won on his second outing over timber impressing at Hereford last time. He showed a good attitude on that occasion so with more to come on handicap debut looks the most obvious danger. American Gerry and Norley are both also likely to go well but I think they are vulnerable to an improver and the selection fits the bill.
