Handicap debutants Dancingontheedge and Mistral Lady represent top connections and may have more to offer.

The majority of the field have question marks surrounding their chances, so this may prove a good opportunity for FLYING VERSE to land a hat-trick of wins. The David Dennis inmate was last seen making all at Musselburgh and a 1lb rise is unlikely to prevent the veteran from remaining competitive. Some Detail is now only 2lb higher than his win here in February and may prove the biggest threat, ahead of the nine-year-old Trixster.

There is a high chance that this contest could be fought out between American Sniper and LALLYGAG. The latter makes slightly more appeal after drawing clear with a smart prospect at Exeter 19 days ago and Freddie Gingell's 7lb claim may give the selection the upper hand. His stablemate Urban Soldier and Lunar Contact can chase that duo home and aren't completely overlooked.

Former pointer BOLD REACTION should be wiser after a respectable third on his hurdles bow at Sandown last month and can strike another blow for his in-form yard in what may well be another profitable Christmas period for the Nicky Henderson team. He's a half-brother to jumps winners in France and is expected to be sharper now he's got the benefit of his seasonal return behind him. High Game Royal and Kayf Legend are others to take seriously.

BEAU BALKO had more in hand than the winning margin suggests at Hereford in October and, given that was only his second outing over hurdles, it's a fair assumption that the Paul Nicholls-trained gelding has more to offer. He steps into handicaps on a workable mark and offers strong appeal. Parramount is feared most after he won well in a novice hurdle last month, while Norley merits consideration too.

Imperial Joe was just denied victory on his most recent run at Newton Abbot in June and has to enter calculations based on that, but LEGENDARY RHYTHM steps up in trip following a promising second at Leicester on her latest outing earlier this month and shades the vote.
