GRILLON DE MONTY made an encouraging start on his stable debut when worn down late on at Southwell last month. Compensation could await the Dan Skelton-trained charge here, with improvement a distinct possibility. Loup De Maulde looks the chief threat after winning over today's C&D in mid-November and he ran with credit off an 8lb higher mark later in the month. Monty's Award and Hesbehindyou can fight it out for the remaining place.
Prediction : 1st Grillon De Monty 2nd Loup De Maulde 3rd Montys Award

Supreme Gift looks capable of picking up more races, but rates somewhat of a risky proposition after running out at Newcastle earlier in the month. There is little separating Hall Lane (first) and HURRICANE BAY (second) judged on their clash at Wetherby in October, but the latter looked to have learned a lot from that hurdling debut when winning at Doncaster last month and a second success could be on the cards.
Prediction : 1st Hurricane Bay 2nd Hall Lane 3rd Supreme Gift

Clear On Top is likely to prove popular after gaining a first success over fences at Leicester earlier in the month and a 4lb rise is unlikely to prevent another bold bid. However, a chance is taken on MR WASHINGTON, who shaped with more enthusiasm on his second race this season and the nine-year-old looks capable of picking up a race of this nature. In-form rivals Crystal Moon, Colemanstown Lad, Thundersockssundae are others to consider in a wide-open contest.
Prediction : 1st Mr Washington 2nd Clear On Top 3rd Crystal Moon

Many of these arrive in good form, so only a tentative vote can go to NORTHERN POET. Nick Gifford's charge defied a 624-day absence when scoring at Plumpton last month, where he had a subsequent winner in behind, and the seven-year-old ought to be capable of mounting another serious challenge. However, he'll need to be at his best to repel the hat-trick seeking Poker Master, while Moveit Like Minnie can follow them home ahead of Yellowstone Park.
Prediction : 1st Northern Poet 2nd Poker Master 3rd Moveit Like Minnie

In an open event, a chance can be taken on SMOKING PIGEON. Fergal O'Brien often excels in these types of races and his chasing debutant could take a step forward now switched to the larger obstacles. The Knot Is Tied recorded a narrow success over 2m at Lingfield earlier this month and he's respected back up in trip, along with recent Taunton scorer Airtothethrone, for all that he might require a greater test of stamina.
Prediction : 1st Smoking Pigeon 2nd The Knot Is Tied 3rd Airtothethrone

Uberman had some solid form off this sort of mark in the spring and if he can get back to that level, he could be a major contender in this line-up. Conceal is another who may go well and he could give 7lb claimer Sean O'Briain a decent ride, but preference is still for FOX'S SOCKS. Lightly raced over fences, the seven-year-old was beaten just half a length at Market Rasen last time out, and any improvement may see him shrug off the 2lb rise he received for that effort.
Prediction : 1st Foxs Socks 2nd Uberman 3rd Conceal

Fergal O'Brien won this last season and has chances again with Billy Boi Blue, a respectable fifth in an Ascot bumper in October and making his hurdling debut today. He seems worth a market watch for signs of confidence, along with MULLINS BAY, who was sent off favourite at Newton Abbot for his debut before finishing third. Sent straight over hurdles now, he can improve and with the Nicholls yard in good form, he may go close. Range was beaten less than a length on his debut and is another for the shortlist in an intriguing contest.
Prediction : 1st Mullins Bay 2nd Billy Boi Blue 3rd Range
