This has been won by some good horses down the years including L’Homme Presse last year. While I am not ignoring Beauport as he is a very talented horse in his own right I do think this is a straight shootout between the top pair in the betting. I’m siding with THUNDER ROCK at a slightly bigger price as he has done nothing but impress. He won four times over hurdles and looked progressive and has taken his form up a notch winning both starts over fences.

He was particularly impressive at Ascot beating Solo last month and is getting better with every run. This is his toughest test to date but he is a horse I want to keep on side. Monmiral was also a smart hurdler and he bumped into Jonbon on chase debut so with natural improvement is easily the biggest danger to the selection. Beauport also has bigger performances in him too.

After bolting up by 14 lengths on debut in a bumper at Chepstow it was a little disappointing to see LIME AVENUE only finish second at Wincanton on hurdles debut. We didn’t actually get to see much of the race due to heavy fog but the way she hit the line I thought she’d do better for it as she was taking a good blow at the finish. The winner Annie Magic looks a nice mare and has a chance to frank that form earlier on the card.

The front three that day were miles clear so the form should be pretty solid. She will improve and I think this is a good chance to go one better. Copshill Lad impressed winning a bumper at Stratford and has had a wind op ahead of his hurdles debut. He might be the one to emerge as the main danger to the selection but obviously lacks experience. How Will I Know was third to Grey Dawning and Lallygag at Exeter and that has obviously worked out notably well since.
