Soleil De Cannes is noted as an interesting alternative, having come home second on similar ground in France.

GOLD CUP BAILLY has taken extremely well to fences, winning both at Wexford (2m4f) and over an extended 2m4f here in impressive fashion, and this longer trip could potentially unlock another gear. Despite a 6lb rise for his course success last time, he is fancied to complete the hat-trick. In receipt of lots of weight all round, Your Own Story might prove to be the biggest danger, while Marown is taken to beat the returning Omar Maretti to third spot.

ROWDY RUSTLER displayed plenty of promise when finishing second on his chasing debut at Newcastle in November and a 3lb rise for that effort may not be enough to stop him. That said, Gaillimh A Stor could give the selection plenty to think about if he can transfer his hurdles ability to fences, while High Moon is another who is capable of going very well.

VEE DANCER landed a hat-trick of victories in the space of nine days in December 2021, going up a combined total of 21lb in the handicap, and Ronan McNally's gelding could have more to offer following a couple of efforts on the Flat in the autumn. Haute Estime was third in the Sefton at Aintree and returns to hurdles following a couple of below-par displays over fences. She is respected along with Wakool, who is likely to find this easier than his latest start at Haydock.

L ANAMOUR finished fourth in a decent maiden hurdle at Punchestown on his Rules debut in November and he could be hard to beat if improving for that experience. One Mill Harbour has a similar profile to the selection, having shown promise on his debut over course and distance, and it would be no surprise to see him go well. Others to note are Halondo, Langdale Lane and Gainsbourg.

Although ESCAPEANDEVADE may be better over further, the expected ground may well blunt the speed of his rivals which could carry the top-weight to success on going he has proved he handles. Travail D'Orfevre won his bumper here on heavy ground and should do better reverting to this trip after failing over further, and he may prove a bigger danger than Fix At All and the unexposed Operation Overlord, who both need to step up.
