Demilion will no doubt prove popular on his handicap debut for Charlie Johnston but preference instead goes to the George Boughey trained HADLEY PARK (best priced at 15/8). The three-year-old won on his handicap debut in November at Chelmsford before finishing a close 2nd over this course and distance on his next start when only defeated by a short head.

Hadley Park disappointed on his next start at Kempton before bouncing back over this course and distance last time to finish 2nd. That was in first time cheekpieces which are retained here and he runs here 1lb “well in” at the weights dropped in class from a 0-85 handicap into a 0-75 handicap off top weight.

The Warren Greatrex trained BOLSOVER BILL (best priced at 2/1) has impressed on his previous two starts and should prove hard to beat from 10lbs “well in” at the weights. The six-year-old won at Catterick in November by 2 ½ lengths off a mark of 87 before winning a conditional jockeys’ race easily by nine lengths last time.

The handicapper has raised Bolsover Bill 10lbs for that victory eight days ago but he instead runs off his previous mark of 92 which makes him look extremely well handicapped. He faces a couple of interesting rivals in Haldon Hill and Greenrock Abbey but he should prove hard to beat if handling the heavy ground.

This looks a competitive 0-75 handicap but preference goes to the Mark Usher trained THE BAY WARRIOR (best priced at 17/2) who has a good record at Chelmsford. The five-year-old has form figures of 1212 at the track with both victories coming over this distance of 1m2f with his latest win coming off a mark of 61.

The Bay Warrior bounced back from a couple of below par efforts on turf to finish a close 2nd over this course and distance off a mark of 63 and he should run well off only a 1lb higher with up to four places on offer.
