13:23 Newcastle

I have been waiting for O’TOOLE to go chasing so he looks worth chancing at Newcastle on Saturday. He looked a promising young horse winning a bumper impressively on debut under Rules a couple of years ago and then bumped into Kilcruit at Punchestown. He was given plenty of time after that and returned with an easy win on debut over hurdles at Down Royal. Beaten twice after that he still recorded decent enough form in defeat and could be a really nice prospect for this sphere.

An opening mark of 130 now chasing should be lenient and this looks a good starting point before being targeted at bigger pots down the line. Castle Rushen is the danger despite unseating on chase debut at Wetherby last month. He hadn’t been asked for any effort and as long as his confidence hasn’t been knocked he should give a good account. Slanelough was a tough winner over C&D last time but is 5lb higher and the form has been knocked since.
