UK Horse Racing Tips: Dundalk

ZIG ZAG ZYGGY has moved yard nine times and last November returned to his original trainer, for whom he subsequently ran well twice. His previous win was in March 2021 ran well in a better handicap recently. That run was over six furlongs and is 5lb higher, but has solid claims in an ordinary race. Shabaaby, another eight year old, was well held on recent runs but won over this distance last June and beat the selection two lengths when the pair met previously in April 2021, although is now 6lb worse off. Florence Thomson was beaten just a head over course and distance last month and while today's rider now claims 7lb, is nonetheless a 33-race maiden.

NOT TOO REAL BAD has been running well over six furlongs and is suited by this surface. Her form is consistently useful and while dropping a furlong is a small concern, she is 9lb better off with Lisieux for a head defeat here in December. Lisieux has yet to race at this distance but is also consistent. She finished eight lengths behind top weight Pub Talk in a claimer, over seven furlongs, in November but is now 12lb better off and could be suited this distance. Pub Talk has strong recent form and while he ran well in a much stronger Navan nursery over six furlongs in August, has recently been competing over longer distances.

ZONIK is a course winner who steps up in distance, having done virtually all his racing at a mile. He has a useful record at this venue and while well held in December raced too keenly, with blinkers now being replaced by a hood in a winneable race, despite a wide draw. Slamadoor won at Bellewstown in September, wasn't beaten far over course and distance in December and has claims, despite appearing a little exposed. Five of Power Drive's six wins have come here and is also well suited by this distance. He was beaten six lengths over course and distance in December but finished nicely and competes from 2lb lower, with his rider claiming 4lb. Dragon Roll won over course and distance in October while Romann is a dual C&D winner who should improve from his recent 707-days reappearance run.

The in-form JE T'AI PORTE has a fine all-weather record and is suited by this distance. She failed to win under a fixed penalty (with a rating of 69) in November but nonetheless finished second and today's rider claims 7lb. Higher Kingdom won by six lengths in December and is interesting running over this distance for the first time. Once rated 87, he has a good all-weather record but is 12lb higher than his recent win, has wide draw and is quirky. Chocolat Blu is interesting on handicap debut being a course and distance maiden winner in December and today's rider claims 7lb. Course and distance winner Mads Black Eight was second to the selection in mid-November but was well held on a subsequent run. Cursory Exam has recent form while Bowerman's rating continues in free-fall but contests this grade for the first time.

The maiden won by Capuchinero, successful again here on Wednesday, over C&D last month looks a key piece of form in the context of this race. UN BACIO ANCORA was having her first start for Cormac Farrell when second in that event with Diamondinthesand and Aces Wild back in third and fourth. The selection was far from disgraced subsequently in a competitive handicap won by Inflection Point. Diamondsinthesand tends to spoil his chance by running too freely. Unterberg never threatened but did show some promise when keeping on in mid-division in a seven-furlong maiden on Guineas weekend at the Curragh and market support would be very significant.

ROCHESTER MIKE showed the benefit of his debut last summer at Naas when stepped up to this trip at the Curragh in October. The son of Wootton Bassett beat all bar an impressive favourite from Ballydoyle in that 20-runner maiden and has been given further time to develop. Anann didn't enjoy much luck in running on debut but took a big step forward when just denied by stablemate Excesso Velocidad here over six in November. Ninth Life is another for the shortlist following a promising debut fifth behind better fancied stablemate Kalikapour over a mile here last month. Zero Mostel, Neon Lights and Lope De Rueda are three newcomers to note in the market.

LECLERC has really progressed since switched to the polytrack and can complete a hat-trick. The Ado McGuinness-trained gelding only made his debut last May and has really thrived on this surface winning twice over C&D. He got a bit lit up early on last time and did well to get on top close home for a three-quarter length victory over Jazzy Dancer who is now fitted with cheek pieces. The Cola Brasil won twice last year at Fairyhouse and Cork and kept on well from off the pace when third to Sondheim here on his latest start. Jered Maddox and Selective Power both come here off the back of a C&D win.

WOODROW justified good support on all three career wins including over this C&D last February and has dropped down to a competitive mark. The Leanne Breen-trained gelding was again well-backed last time when beaten less than two lengths behind Selective Power. Circles has strung together a consistent series of efforts here this winter including when just denied by Linus Larrabee and she suffered a nightmare run in the straight when a close-up fourth to Jered Maddox again over C&D last time. Delta Romeo has also proved a frustrating sort to follow filling the runner-up spot twice here including in that aforementioned race won by Jered Maddox just before Christmas.
