Ballyglass impressed making a winning debut over hurdles at Uttoxeter but failed to back that up at Haydock completely blowing out finishing last. Now that form has been franked with the winner Tahmuras taking the Tolworth at the weekend and the third Snake Roll bolting up at Newcastle on Boxing Day. I didn’t like the way he weakened though and I’m guessing he might be overbet here. I prefer the likeable KELLAHEN who bumped into Whizz Kid at Ludlow but then improved on reappearance to beat Ivar readily at Bangor. He was beaten on handicap debut at Wetherby but certainly wasn’t disgraced and looks worth chancing to defy a penalty back in a novice. Joe Dadancer was heavily backed on debut at Wetherby but let supporters down badly folding tamely late on. He has had a wind op since but might still need this to come good.

I was with THE IMPOSTER at Wetherby last month and he certainly didn’t let us down finding plenty to ultimately win with a bit in hand again. I was impressed with that as he was there to be shot at but kept finding more and showed a great attitude to hold them all at bay. The assessor applies more pressure putting him up another 5lb but I still want to keep him on side and the four-timer may well be on the cards here. Tom Buckley gets to claim 3lb again and that should help too. Galactic Power is a 13yo now but he was back on track to some extent finishing second at Taunton last month. If he builds on that he could feature in this race. At a bigger price If Karl’s Berg Did could run well as he was an encouraging third at Leicester and if he enjoys the step up in trip with that comeback under his belt he might be able to run into a place.
