Morozov Cocktail capped off last season with a dominant performance at Newcastle making all the running. He has failed to match that sort of form twice this season though and while he shaped a bit better last time he is always prone to a mistake and I’m surprised he is favourite for this. I much prefer C&D winner SIR APOLLO despite that heavy defeat at Wetherby last month. I just think because he was so impressive making all here they tried to adopt them tactics last time but that is harder to do at Wetherby and it ultimately cost him any chance of being competitive in the closing stages. He is much better than that and eased 2lb in calmer waters back at this track another big run beckons. He is a shorter price than I usually go for with my Value Tip but I’d have him shorter so that makes him a good bet. Onestepatatime was behind the selection on penultimate start so has ground to make up despite a further 3lb drop in the weights.
