UK Horse Racing Tips: Clonmel

BANNTOWN GIRL has plenty of solid placed form and looks the one to beat here reverting back to hurdling. The Stowaway mare was placed four times over timber last season, including in the competitive mares handicap hurdle at the Dublin Racing festival. She has run a couple of solid races over fences this term, chasing home Jody Ted here last month, and this looks like a nice opportunity to supplement her bumper success. The well-bred Bellatior, a half-sister to Altior, won a bumper first time up but has been well held on a couple of runs since, including on her hurdling debut at Tramore in October. She could be a threat if stepping forward from her initial effort over jumps. One Cool Lady has shaped well in three bumper runs and is another for the shortlist on her hurdling debut.

FEU DU BRESIL wasn't knocked about when his chance had gone on his Irish debut at Limerick and looks capable of stepping forward from that run. The Blue Bresil gelding was a touch keen on his first start for Willie Mullins and was novicey at the last couple of flights when finishing fifth to Maidenstreetprince 15 days ago. The eight-year-old has obviously had his issues as he was making his first start since finishing second on his sole French run back October 2018 and he can be forgiven for being a bit 'gassy'. Yeah Man ran well when chasing home Slane Hill in an 'unplaced' maiden at Naas last time. The front two pulled nicely clear then and he looks a danger now. Cillians Charm was well beaten over in Doncaster last time but on previous placed form he'd be a contender.

This looks like a nice opportunity for GAELIC WARRIOR to add some more experience and bag another win. The Maxios gelding was narrowly denied in the 'Boodles' at Cheltenham last year on his first outing for Willie Mullins and showed signs of greenness when jumping right. He had a solo on his return at Tramore when posting a 86-length victory and will have a bit more of a test now. Stablemate Blue Sari is probably the one that will give him most to do. The Saddex gelding is a smart horse in his own right and was second in the Cheltenham bumper a few years ago. He had a mixed campaign over fences last season, winning at Gowran before finding better company tougher on two subsequent starts. Maidenstreetprince won a decent looking maiden hurdle at Limerick over Christmas but this is a big jump in class now.

SHEAN GLORY has been running fairly consistently and may be able to land a weak enough looking contest. She may want a bit further than this but stamina will be a big asset in this kind of ground and she ran a solid race here last month when fourth to Hard Target. The veteran Shantou Sisu is fairly versatile and is a previous course and distance winner. He looks like another that has to have a shout in this company. Gwan Tadhg didn't run too badly when sixth at Cork last time and is one of the lesser exposed types. He could be place material.

LAKE CHAD has run into a couple of cosy winners on his last two runs and may be able to gain a deserved win here. The Montmartre gelding is only a couple of pounds higher having chased home Arderu Ru at Tramore 11 days ago and a similar effort may be enough now. Champ Royal has been knocking on the door and he could be a danger here. The French-bred was a solid enough fifth at Fairyhouse last time and remains on the same mark. Karen's Gift ran well when third at a big price at Tramore last time and she's another for the shortlist.

BONNIE KELLIE may be able to strike again here despite an 11lb hike for her success at Limerick. She had run a big race when going down by half a length to Courting Vickie here in November and stepped forward from that when running out a decisive winner in testing conditions last time. Over a similar trip in heavy ground she can follow up. Union Park has been knocking on the door and he could prove a danger here. He has run well on his two most recent outings at Thurles. Pennywell Girl was a big price when third here last month but has been left on the same mark so could pick up prize-money again.

David Christie looks to have another nice hunter chase prospect in GLOBAL ASSEMBLY and he can strike here for the Fermanagh handler. The Kayf Tara gelding chased home former Grade 1 winner The Storyteller on his debut for the trainer in a Necarne 'open' before taking a winners of one at Kirkistown a week later. He recovered from a bad mistake to beat Wearelongterm then and is fancied to confirm placings with that rival now. Gordon Elliott's charge has been third again since in another winners contest and is entitled to be a big player here. Sean Doyle's runner Is A Real Champ looks another to consider having been placed in a couple of decent 'opens' already this season.
