When looking at this race early yesterday I was intrigued as to what the market would do and now GREENROCK ABBEY has been backed I make him an even more confident selection. I backed him at 11/2 last night but I was hoping to see market support and connections are clearly expecting a big run. He has always looked promising this horse and while he failed to reach the heights they would have hoped over hurdles it was good to see him make a winning chase debut over C&D when heavily supported. He was beaten at Ffos Las last time but didn’t jump well enough that day. Back at this track with headgear applied I think we’ll see a much better performance. He still has a lot of potential off this mark for me and I’d have him favourite over Valirann Gold. The latter made all from out the handicap at Chepstow last time and if similar tactics work again he is the danger despite carrying a penalty.

Well backed on debut OBSESSED WITH YOU made no mistake despite still looking far from the finished article. She made all that day but I remember her having a good look at her hurdles before staying on strongly to ultimately win unchallenged. She was pitched into a tough race at Aintree last time where she finished a creditable fourth. The winner Dixon Cove is a nice type so the form isn’t bad at all. These are much calmer waters and if she is ridden forward they might struggle to contain her. She is learning all the time and I expect her to make into quite a nice filly in the future. Jaminska has shown ability and likely has more to come so could emerge as the danger. Sailing Grace is another that will do better again at some point so shouldn’t be entirely ruled out despite probably needing more to win this. The rest are up against it as the betting is suggesting.
