This could be fought out between Georges Saint and HERMINO AA, with slight preference for the latter. GEROLAMO CARDANO made the most of a career-low mark when romping home by 26 lengths at Leicester last month and, with testing conditions likely once more, he can make light work of a 6lb rise in the ratings. Royal Mer is an intriguing stable debutant from France for the David Pipe yard and any money in the market would make the five-year-old of interest. C&D winner Kenny George rarely runs a bad race at this course and completes the shortlist.

COOLVALLA remains unbeaten over fences having recorded a wide-margin success over C&D on Boxing Day, and a subsequent 11lb rise in the handicap might not be enough to stop Chris Gordon's charge from winning again. Premier D'troice remains well treated on previous form and he's likely to be in the thick of things, along with Echo Watt, who has been running to a consistent level in recent starts.
