In what appears to be a slightly easier assignment I’m hopeful FUNKY TOWN PINKIE can get back to winning ways. She romped home over 2 and a bit miles here back in November but did only beat 2 rivals on that occasion so arguably her better performance came over C&D when beating Kitten’s Dream by a length last month. She was beaten back up in trip last time but still has plenty going for her as this does look easier. She should still have more to come off this mark and will likely be finishing best under Joey Haynes. Easy Equation won here over further earlier in the season and hasn’t been running badly. If the drop back in trip helps he could emerge as the danger. True Romance won over this trip at Wolverhampton but was well held back over hurdles last time. He could go well back on the Flat but probably still needs more.

I’m going to take a chance on ANTHEM NATIONAL at Dundalk on Friday night. This Dark Angel colt has only seen a racecourse four times and has changed yards now with Joseph O’Brien. He remains open to plenty of improvement and I just think he might surprise a few here on reappearance. There is a lack of pace on so it will be interesting to see what they do with him but he could easily go forward. San Andreas is favourite but he was expensive to follow last season and doesn’t find winning easy. I certainly wouldn’t want to take a short price. Real Appeal is a greater danger if he can break on terms. He makes his debut for Jessica Harrington and has 7lb claimer Adam Caffrey booked for the ride. Angels Wrath has won over C&D in the past but has enough to find along with the rank outsider of the field Lead On Mcduff.
