This looks a competitive 0-60 handicap but BOBBA TEE (best priced at 10/1) looks overpriced based on his latest run at Newcastle. The Alan Brown trained eleven-year-old outran odds of 80/1 to finish 3rd in first time cheekpieces when only beaten ½ length last time off a mark of 62 and he runs here off a 4lb lower mark.

That was the first time Connor Beasley had ridden Bobba Tee and it is notable that he retains the ride in this race. He steps up in trip 2f to 1m6f which shouldn’t inconvenience him and I expect him to run well with four places widely available.

Both Win Win Power and Run Teddy Run will prove popular with punters in this race but both may struggle under 5lb penalties and preference instead goes to PESSOA (best priced at 9/2) who is unlucky not to be unbeaten for new connections. The four-year-old joined Adrian Wintle from the John Joseph Murphy stable and the gelding defied odds of 33/1 to win at Wolverhampton over 7f by 1 ½ lengths off a mark of 52.

Pessoa nearly followed up last time over the same course and distance but finished 2nd by a neck off a mark of 57. That was as a result of him hanging left-handed late on and I am hoping both the combination of a step back up in trip to a mile and the presence of Finley Marsh back on board will result in him upsetting the top two in the market.

Pessoa - 0.5pts e/w @ 9/2

The David & Nicola Barron trained MODULAR MAGIC (best priced at 7/4) has been well backed overnight but I do feel the gelding will prove hard to beat in this race. The six-year-old has form figures of 422 over this course and distance with the margins of his defeats totalling less than three lengths. He was beaten a length off a mark of 68, 1 ½ lengths off 68 and beaten only a short head a week ago off a mark of 72.

The handicapper has raised Modular Magic 3lbs for that run up to a mark of 75 but he gets to run here off a mark of 72 meaning that he is 3lbs “well in” at the weights. He didn’t get the clearest of runs that day so the performance can probably be upgraded and I expect him to prove hard to beat in this race with Tom Marquand taking over on board.

Modular Magic - 1pt @ 2/1
