The five-timer may well be on the cards for ZEALOT at Southwell on Monday. This five-year-old has gone from strength to strength for Mick Appleby and made it four straight over C&D last time with a bit in hand again. The handicapper applies a little more pressure putting him up another 6lb but this still looks winnable and I’d rather be with him than against. He’ll be ridden quietly again but Ali Rawlinson was seen to good effect last time and I think he has a good partnership now so should be up to the job.

Court Of Session won nicely at Chelmsford following a short break back in November and has run well twice since despite finishing down the field at Kempton. He looks the main danger if it pans out more favourably here. Alrehb ran well on all three starts when last seen back in the summer and would also have to be feared if bringing his best.

The way PILOT SHOW stayed on to win on chase debut at Catterick last month was impressive and he could have a bright future in this sphere. He left his hurdles form behind on that occasion and clearly relished the stiffer test of stamina. He is up 6lb but should stay ahead of the handicapper for a while yet and I thought he’d be shorter than 9/4 so those odds look worth snapping up.

Airtothethrone showed a good attitude to win at Taunton and while he wasn’t in the same form at Huntingdon it is still early days so he could be the danger if bouncing back. Bobmahley finally got off the mark over fences on return at Fakenham back in October. He has been beaten twice since but did bump into the progressive Coolvalla at Lingfield so that was still a good effort. It wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see him run well so he also has to enter calculations.
