15:35 Down Royal

The way ANGELS DAWN won over fences at Limerick last year was impressive and while she hasn’t kicked on since she was back to form in a big way denied just a short head at Punchestown last month. There was lots to like about that run and it was only a mistake at the last that cost her. She came back strongly at the line but just failed to get to Notice To Close with the front pair nicely clear. She is up 4lb but the claimer takes off 7lb so everything points towards another big run. Ballykeel still has potential and better can be expected now handicapping so he is the one I think is most likely to put up some resistance. From The Ashes bumped into Salmanino who made all at Punchestown but that was a solid effort and he can likely do better so is also noted. Archies Charm also ran well when second to Seddon at Leopardstown so would have to be respected off the back of that.

The drop down to the minimum could see VESPASIAN back in the winners enclosure. He bumped into the progressive Pocket The Profit on reappearance at Wolverhampton showing bright early speed and then missed just half a length over the same trip at Lingfield last month. He was always in the firing line again last time and that early boot might see him dominate here. He runs off the same mark and looks sure to go close under Harry Burns who is good value for his 3lb claim. Hiya Maite is likeable and goes well here but he is off a career-high mark now and is up in class so might find this tougher. Kim Wexler really impressed last time but she carries a penalty now and will need to get the start right again as Danny Muscutt removed the hood to perfection last time. Strong Johnson has joined Paul Midgley which is really intriguing but he might just need this run to sharpen him up.
