GYTO's Saturday Notebook Double pays 9/1.
11:40 Cheltenham
This is a decent renewal but that is to be expected given it is often won by a nice horse. Pied Piper took it last year before going on to chase home Vauban and Fil Dor in the Triumph. I really like COMFORT ZONE for Joseph O’Brien. I thought he did a fair bit wrong at Chepstow last time but still had just about enough left in the tank to see off Dixon Cove. He actually pitched quite badly over the last and that would have knocked the stuffing out of him briefly so to recover so quickly I thought was quite impressive.
Dixon Cove is a nice filly and she is going the right way too so with the swing in the weights is the obvious danger. I fancy the selection to improve again though and I’m keen to keep him on side. Jupiter Du Gite hacked up on stable debut at Newbury last month and is hard to weigh up so is another one to note.
14:11 Fairyhouse
I’m looking forward to seeing unbeaten mare HALKA DU TABERT at Fairyhouse on Saturday. She showed a good attitude to prevail on debut for this yard in a bumper at Naas and then improved to make an impressive start over hurdles at Naas bolting up by 11 lengths. She goes up in trip here which should prove ideal given she did all her best work late and with further improvement to come I think she looks a great bet to turn over Ashroe Diamond.
The latter has experience on side and has to be respected but I thought she looked a bit one paced albeit behind Facile Vega at Leopardstown. Saylavee has won two of her last three and is also respected but as well as she won the last day this looks tougher again so she’ll probably need to improve if she is going to follow up. Goodie Two Shoes is also promising but likely needs more time and experience.
