UK Horse Racing Tips: Dundalk

NEVADA QUEEN needs to put a lacklustre handicap run behind her but has made the frame in a couple of claimers here and may improve for the fitting of a hood. She was third over C&D on debut last March and wasn't far behind the more exposed Two Two Time when fourth over 1m4f on her penultimate start. Hurricane Helen knew how to win in Britain with four victories over a mile and was touched off over that trip on her Irish debut last month. She has continued to run respectably since then but is unproven over this far. John McConnell fits new headgear on his pair of runners, with Make The Switch taking a marked drop in distance after a couple of good runs in 2m handicaps and Numoor another whose stamina is unproven on his first try over further than a mile. Beyond Boundaries' mark of 65 gives him a chance on paper and he should be sharper for his stable debut last month.

Bill Lee won a Clonmel maiden on ROMAN BULL in early autumn and is back on board for the first time since then. The Teofilo gelding has only been beaten around two lengths in a couple of C&D handicaps and is entitled to improve from his early January run which came after a lay-off. Lee was on board Havana Pearl when Michael Halford's filly made the breakthrough after stepping up to this trip here last week. The well-bred daughter of Camelot was an emphatic winner and is 9lb higher as a consequence but may well progress again. Je T'ai Porte is a likely pace angle and was first and second in a pair of C&D contests in November. She had Burren Song and Whatharm behind when narrowly beaten over 1m4f earlier this month and this trip should suit better.

None can be ruled out in a tricky contest with several open to improvement stepping into handicaps. A chance is taken on DUBAWI SPECTRE, gelded since last seen, who showed up well in some hot maidens on turf and wasn't disgraced on his only nursery outing at Listowel. He may be able to keep his mind on the job now and could be on a handy mark although he's unproven on the surface. Arabian Legend wasn't far behind the selection a couple of times last year and a first-time hood looks significant as he was inclined to be too free as a juvenile. Pub Talk is consistent and, while he did well to be runner-up over 5f last time, should be much better suited by this trip over which he was beaten only half a length two starts back. Malacanne, second to a stable companion over 7f a fortnight ago, should also be suited by a mile but is in better company here.

Bold Ribb is the key horse here and it looks a great chance for the 77-rated colt who's been beaten a head, half a length and a length in three similar contests here. He doesn't look the most resolute of horses in a finish, though, and is taken on with SEARCH FORTHESTAR. Luke Comer's homebred, related to a couple of prolific all-weather winners, disappointed when last seen nearly ten months ago but his debut fourth over C&D was promising and the form has been shown in a good light by those in front of him on that occasion. If he's straight enough after his lay-off, he won't be far away with a reproduction of that first run. Pastel Power was placed on all-weather tracks on his first two starts for Sir Michael Stoute. An expensive yearling who is a half-brother to a Group 1 winner, he may need the run but nonetheless has to be considered in a weak race. Consistent off marks in the low-50s in handicaps, Circles has place claims.

LINUS LARRABEE might be able to bounce back from a disappointing effort last month. Two of his four course and distance wins came in November and he was just denied of a hat-trick when going down by a neck. Sorcha Woods has formed a good partnership with the Slade Power six-year-old in recent months and the Naas apprentice is again booked for the ride, claiming a valuable 7lb. Eddie Lynam trains the selection and he is also represented by Selective Power. He beat his stable mate when they clashed in late November, but since disappointed on his next start. Denis Hogan and James McAuley are also double handed, with Bronze River perhaps the most likely winner from the quartet. Others of interest in this competitive contest are Maestro Stick, Hey Kameir and Hypernova.

Song For Whoever and dual course and distance winner Coolcalmncollected are sure to prove popular with punters, however they may find it difficult to contain ANANN. The Joseph O'Brien trained selection made the breakthrough at the all-weather venue earlier this month and is open to further improvement. In receipt of a fillies allowance, Hugh Horgan will also take a valuable 7lb off of her back. The aforementioned Song For Whoever is given second preference. He recorded a convincing success over the course and distance before Christmas, beating subsequent victor Stormy Entry into second. Dynamite Katie is the other winner in the line-up and she has definite claims, while the consistent Brasilian Princess can't be discounted.

HERO OF THE HOUR might be able to make the breakthrough in first time blinkers. The locally trained six-year-old has just 11 runs to her name and is open to improvement. She was fourth over the course and distance nine days ago, with Betrayed and Zig Zag Zyggy in first and third respectively. First time blinkers clearly helped Betrayed on that occasion and it'll come as little surprise if she manages to follow-up, with Robert Whearty again claiming a valuable 7lb. Zig Zag Zyggy has been knocking on the door of late and is sure to have plenty of supporters, while others for the shortlist in this competitive contest are No Speed Limit, Empress Of Bough, Florence Thompson and last year's winner Teddy Boy.
