A winner of a valuable handicap at Ascot in November, he wasn't disgraced when attempting to give Jonbon a race in the Henry VIII at Sandown and backed that up with a tough display on ground plenty soft enough for him at Kempton over Christmas. This appears to be a suitable opportunity before bigger targets await at the spring festivals. Tommy's Oscar has to warrant plenty of respect, in receipt of 5lb from the selection, and he also meets his Newcastle conqueror, Since Day One, on level terms, having attempted to give away 19lb on that occasion.

It is very hard to oppose EPATANTE, who has chased home her top-class stablemate Constitution Hill on her last couple of starts at Grade 1 level. The nine-year-old is a consistent performer and she is likely to prove a class above her rivals here. Martello Sky has filled second place on her last three starts and could do so once again, while Finest View and Galice Macalo are the clear pick of the remainder.
