20:00 Kempton
Now with William Haggas EARL OF TYRONE could be set to make a winning stable debut at Kempton tonight. He is a very smart horse who only went down a length in the Ebor last year. He makes his debut on the AW now and I’m expecting class to come to the fore. Solent Gateway is probably the pace angle in here and he should get a nice toe in under James Doyle. Berkshire Rocco arrives in winning form having got his head back in front at Southwell last month. He is probably the danger as I expect him to confirm that form with Rainbow Dreamer. Sleeping Lion won this last year but I think this is a big ask back from a layoff this time around. Metier impressed winning the November Handicap at Doncaster but was pulled up back over hurdles when last seen and has a bit to prove in a race as good as this.
15:40 Southwell
After showing promise in two bumper runs SEDGE WREN overcame a poor round of jumping in the main to win at Huntingdon on hurdles debut back in October. She has been given plenty of time since and has likely schooled plenty. She clearly has quite a decent engine and even carrying a penalty here I think she is going to take a bit of beating. Chosen Port pulled up at Huntingdon and then fell when held at Leicester last time so has a bit to prove.
I admit she still has potential but I personally feel she is a watching brief for now. Western Jill might be the danger having finished second in an Irish point to point back in March last year. She could have a bright future so it wouldn’t surprise me to see her run well enough to finish second. Lady Mendoza ran well at Newcastle but failed to back that up at Catterick.
