Hidden Beauty is respected in this mares’ novices’ hurdle under a penalty but preference goes to the Nicky Martin trained INSPIRATRICE (best priced at 6/1) who was running well in a listed race last time before unseating. The four-year-old was a surprise 200/1 winner over this course and distance in December when she ran out an impressive 4 ½ length winner.

Inspiratrice was sent off 80/1 for a fillies’ juvenile hurdle last time at Doncaster but she was staying on well when badly hampered and unseated her rider at the second last. She drops in class to this mares’ novices’ hurdle and I expect her to run well in receipt of weight from her older rivals.

This looks a competitive 0-105 handicap hurdle but preference goes to the Paul Nicholls trained PLEASANT MAN (best priced at 7/4). The five-year-old was a 95 rated flat horse for Roger Charlton but he hasn’t quite fulfilled his potential so far over hurdles. He finished 3rd over this course and distance in a novice hurdle behind stablemate Iliko D’Olivate before finishing a close 2nd last time at Exeter.

Pleasant Man finished only a short head behind Gingerbred at Exeter last time on his handicap debut off a mark of 105 and he gets to run here off the same mark. Adrian Heskin takes over from Freddie Gingell on board and I expect him to get off the mark over hurdles at the fifth attempt.
