This looks a competitive 0-135 handicap chase but preference goes to recent course and distance winner JOBESGREEN LAD (best priced at 11/4). The Tom George trained eight-year-old has good record over fences of four wins, one second and one third from eight runs and he should hold strong claims despite a career high mark.

Jobesgreen Lad repeated his course and distance victory from last year in December off a mark of 105 and he is deserving of his 8lbs rise from the handicapper for that 3 ¼ length victory. Rose Sea Has is respected from 3lbs “well in” at the weights but he could struggle to give weight to the progressive Jobesgreen Lad.

The Jamie Snowden trained REGARDE (best priced at 15/4) has been incredibly well backed in the overnight market for this race and he should prove hard to beat if a wind operation does the trick. The six-year-old was an impressive 12 length PTP winner for Colin Bowe last year before making his hurdling debut at Carlisle in October. He travelled well into the race that day but a combination of heavy ground and fitness meant that he weakened late on into fourth.

Regarde once again travelled well on his next start at Wetherby but weakened late on to finish 6th and I feel the wind operation that he has had since will improve his finishing effort. Book Of Secrets sets the standard with a rating of 110 but the way Regarde has been backed would give hope that we will see an improved effort following the wind operation.
