In a race where quite a few of these have something to prove it might be worth taking a chance on CLADDAGHDUFF for Jamie Osborne. This lightly raced 5yo ran his best race to date when third at Southwell over a mile last month. He was a bit slowly into stride and then looked outpaced before running on strongly for third. He very much caught the eye and stepping up in trip he should be going close here off the same mark. The biggest danger is probably C&D winner Sun Festival who hasn’t been shaping badly and ran quite well when fifth at Southwell last month. Captain St Lucifer only went down half a length here last time and that form has been franked but back in a handicap he is going to need more to get seriously competitive. Triple M makes her handicap debut but she couldn’t really have run much worse at Kempton so might still be best watched for now.
