I think it was more how the race panned out rather than the rise in the weights that cost XCITATIONS at Doncaster last month. Prior to that he was a horse firmly on the upgrade winning impressively by 9 lengths at Sandown. He still has potential off this current mark and down in grade it would be no surprise to see him resume his progress with Jack Andrews back onboard claiming a handy 3lb off his back. He still has to carry a fairly big weight here in 12 stone but I expect his class to come to the fore. Rose Sea Has is likeable and ultra consistent having won at Fontwell and then chased home Galop De Chasse at Hereford last time. He will run his race and looks the most likely danger to the selection. Return Ticket isn’t getting any younger but would be a threat if returning to that form that saw him second at Kelso back in December.

I liked what I saw from DUTCH KINGDOM on debut and given plenty of time since I’m expecting him to have improved enough to go one better and win this. He just looked a bit clueless first time out which is to be expected but once he started to make headway he closed up well and just lacked the pace of the winner at the death. That colt has since put up a big run in defeat when second at Chelmsford so the form is solid enough. Master Of Chant ran his best race to date when beaten just half a length on final start for Marcus Tregoning and could have more to offer now with Alice Haynes so is respected. Prince Nabeel has proved a little frustrating but he would still have a chance in a race like this so don’t entirely discount. Rogue Thunder has a similar profile to the selection and is also one to watch out for if improving here.
