UK Horse Racing Tips: Sedgefield

MIDNIGHT SHUFFLE is a prime candidate to put the tempo to the race and she could be hard to peg back given that she's still open to stacks of improvement. Last Sunday, the daughter of Midnight Legend won a similar race at Musselburgh with a bit more in hand than the winning margin suggests and she looks very capable of coping with a 7lb penalty. Western Jill and Aubis Walk are the main dangers.

Previous C&D winner Big Changes is respected, while Trac is also one to note back up in trip for a yard that has turned a corner of late. However, preference is for QUIET FLOW, who has been consistent without yet winning over fences and has a live chance of reversing last October's C&D form with the aforementioned Big Changes on much more favourable terms. Coolmoyne is also considered.

SIR APOLLO is back at the scene of his all-the-way win registered in November and, while he's been a tad below that form lately, he is a must for consideration off just a 1lb higher mark in a first-time blinkers/tongue-tie combination. Ballynagran arrives on the back of his best effort over fences to date and still has scope to improve. Henry Brown rates best of the rest.

MULLINAREE must hold every chance if building on a strong runner-up effort at Huntingdon last time out. That was a career-best effort from Milton Harris' charge and a similar effort should be enough to see off Jaramillo, who has the potential to improve for stepping up in trip. Both relatively unexposed, Horn Cape and Jipekaa Machin are not to be underestimated either.

This can go to the top-weight THATBEATSBANAGHER, who was an eye-catcher when staying on late from off the pace at Newcastle. An easy winner over C&D last September, everything points to another big performance from Ben Haslam's charge. My Strong Man may be a maiden through 14 starts but he has the form to get involved, along with the well-handicapped First Man.

GANDHI MAKER was said to have benefitted from a drop in trip when successful over an extended 2m at Newcastle last month, where he made most of the running. Ross Chapman is likely to employ similar tactics once more and that could see the son of Policy Maker defy a 6lb rise in the handicap. Dondiam was far from disgraced at Fakenham on his latest outing and the application of a first-time tongue-tie could eke out further improvement. Lucky Robin is another to note.

Legendary Day has been in good form under both codes recently and, though he's likely to prove popular, a chance is taken on START IN FRONT. Rebecca Menzies' charge was no match for a ready winner at Ayr 22 days ago, but he steps into handicap company off a potentially lenient mark and could have more to offer. A winner over C&D in December, Bertie's Wish, who sports a first-time hood, is fancied to go well too.
