GYTO's Saturday Notebook Double pays 10/1.
14:53 Newcastle
Blue Fin has looked a little one paced so far and I’m not sure this drop back down in trip is going to suit so I like HASHTAG BOUM in opposition. This mare hasn’t pulled down any trees as of yet but she has potential to improve and this looks winnable. She clearly needed the outing and experience when down the field behind Don Hollow at Catterick but quickly left that behind to finish a good second at Wetherby at the start of the month. She warmed to the task that day and kept on well without threatening the winner. With further improvement I think she looks well placed to get off the mark now. Of the rest Si Elegant showed promise in France but ran out at Hereford and is clearly far from straightforward. Caithness is bred to be pretty useful and showed some promise when keeping on for third at Newcastle so is also noted.
19:10 Chelmsford
The four-timer may well be on the cards for BIT HARSH at Chelmsford on Saturday night. He ran on strongly to beat a subsequent winner in Dinoo at Wolverhampton earlier this month and a further 5lb rise shouldn’t be enough to anchor him. He goes up in trip again and if that proves a catalyst for further improvement then he really should have these covered. The danger as the betting is suggesting looks to be Halic who made all readily at Lingfield last month. He has since changed yards but is open to further progress so should make a race of it. Red Flyer certainly wasn’t disgraced when fourth behind Barenboim at Lingfield last month and is another one to consider if managing to build on that. There isn’t obvious pace on but I think that would prove more of an inconvenience to Halic than it would to the selection so that is another plus.
