With Densworth not taking his chance this looks a great opportunity for BENASSI to follow up. This son of Westerner came on plenty for his encouraging third at Wetherby to make all at Uttoxeter last month and is clearly a horse going the right way now. The form hasn’t exactly been advertised since but he was firmly in command that day and the win was never really in doubt. This is tougher but he definitely has more to come and he should run a big race. L Anamour was a fairly expensive purchase and he won nicely over C&D last month but that form is nothing to write home about and he will definitely find this tougher. He could still be the danger but will need to do better. It is not just a two horse race as Fortescue Wood defied a lengthy layoff to win over C&D before improving in defeat at Kelso. Freshened up he could also get competitive.

I have this between the top two in the betting and PADDY’S DAY is a confident pick. This Starspangledbanner colt is the more unexposed of the pair and I thought he shaped as though he’d come on for the run when third on reappearance over C&D earlier this month. He was given a patient ride that day before making good headway into third and just keeping on. He is 1lb lower and with the potential for Furnicoe, The Thames Boatman and Erosion Risk to push forward this could pan out perfectly with him looking to run them down late. The latter is the danger as he has been knocking on the door finishing runner-up on four of his last five starts. He hasn’t been doing much wrong but does have a tendency to find one or two too good. I backed My Delilah last time but she folded rapidly in the closing stages and needs to prove she can see out her race better.
