I thought DEED POLE ran an eye-catching race in defeat when a close second over a mile here last month. He was keen throughout and then got shoved wide on the turf for him. He still looked a bit green hanging left in the closing stages and just couldn’t pick up as well as the winner Cariad. With that under his belt and dropping back to 7f I think he can get off the mark now. That form last time with All Dunn third looks very solid for the grade and he is sure to go close. Topo Chico seemed unsuited by the drop back to 6f when third at Kempton and will appreciate going up a furlong again in trip here. She goes handicapping off a mark of 68 and looks the danger with Harry Burns claiming a handy 3lb. Originally is a good looking sort who ran well when fourth at Southwell last month. If improving he might pose a greater threat to the selection.

Herbiers is a short priced favourite for this and while he is quite a nice horse so is BRIEF TIMES and the value may lay with backing the latter to bounce back. He was obviously bitterly disappointing at Wetherby when sent off a well backed favourite. He was held up but just didn’t jump well enough and dropped away tamely. His win at Plumpton before that was pretty impressive making all and having undergone wind surgery since we might see him get back to that level of form now. He still brings a lot of potential to the table and should serve it up to the favourite. Nothin To Ask also needs a revival after pulling up at this track when last seen back in December. He was 2-2 in this sphere before that though so shouldn’t be completely overlooked but I am keen on the selection getting firmly back on track here.
