I have been waiting for SHOLOKJACK to run again given how impressive he was at Lingfield last time. He was ridden like a very good horse and lived up to those expectations tanking through the race to win easily in the end. It was good to see him put that fall at Uttoxeter behind him and I think he can really kick on now. He goes up slightly in trip again and is improving all the time. The handicapper has had his say raising him 11lb but the best is yet to come and I think he’ll pass this test with flying colours.

Bill Baxter is likeable and impressed beating Old Painless here on penultimate start. He was still going well when coming down at Hereford but that was a heavy fall. If he bounces back he’ll be the danger but confidence may have been knocked. Castle Rushen is undoubtedly talented but he needs to put in a clean round of jumping to have a chance here.

There was lots to like about the way SWEET WILL won over hurdles at Cheltenham back in November staying on strongly through the line and he returned with a promising run when second back over fences at Fairyhouse. It was probably too early to say coming down three out at Navan last time but he was still travelling ominously well and if bouncing back returned to hurdles he should take a lot of beating. Snipe was still moving well when coming down at Southwell and got back on track landing cramped odds at Ffos Las last month.

He needs to improve on that but if he does he could be the danger. Bumpy Johnson improved off the back of a wind op to win at Ffos Las last month and should remain competitive up just 4lb from that. The Newest One is also respected but would need things to drop perfectly to win.
