Steve Ryder is back with three selections for today's action.
14:30 Lingfield
This looks a competitive 0-75 handicap but preference goes to SENSE OF WORTH (best priced at 5/1) who has run well on his two starts for the Lee Carter stable. The seven-year-old joined the stable having dropped 8lbs in five runs for Tony Carroll but bounced back to form with a close 3rd placed finish at Wolverhampton off a mark of 77.
Sense Of Worth was only beaten ½ length that day and went closer to victory a week ago when beaten a neck in 2nd at Kempton over a mile off the same mark. The handicapper has raised him 2lbs for that run but he instead runs here off the same mark of 77 meaning he is 2lbs “well in” and I expect him to run well with four places on offer.
15:40 Fontwell
THE GREY FALCO (best priced at 9/4) pulled up on his only start so far this season for Alastair Ralph but is now interesting dropped in class on his stable debut for Ben Pauling. The eight-year-old was previously rated as high as 124 two seasons ago but has now dropped down to a mark of 112 for his stable debut.
The Grey Falco drops in class from a 0-120 handicap into a 0-110 handicap for the first time and is interesting off top weight with first time cheekpieces added.
16:35 Kempton
The likes of Celtic Champion, Danger Alert and The X O have all shown their hand to the handicapper and I am willing to take a chance on the Richard Spencer trained MAHARAJAS EXPRESS (best priced at 17/2) on his handicap debut. The three-year-old won over this course and distance on his debut in November before just failing to concede a penalty in a novice race at Chelmsford in December.
Maharajas Express was slowly away and ran green throughout the race at Chelmsford which is an awkward track for inexperienced horses so this return to Kempton is a huge positive. An opening mark of 79 seems very fair and hopefully he has improved in the 79 days he has had off the track.
