With only five horses heading to post for this MOUNTAIN QUEEN looks a standout for Tom Dascombe. She returned from a break to show improved form winning readily at Wolverhampton back in November and given time since now sent handicapping she should be capable of following up. She was keen enough the last day but that didn’t stop her coming with a run and she did it with plenty to spare in the closing stages. She probably needs to improve again to win this but on what is just her fifth start I’ll be surprised if she doesn’t. Wadacre Grace ended a frustrating run of form to win at Lingfield last time and the runner-up franked the form earlier in the week so she looks the danger. Sid’s Annie ran well at Wolverhampton and is another who should get competitive.
20:30 Chelmsford
I thought Angle Land had every chance to run down Bert Kibbler at Southwell last week and while that was still a good effort she may be held by Dalby Forest on collateral form as that rival beat Bert Kibbler when they met over C&D last month. He has since finished a good second to Lihou and looks the biggest danger but I’m keen to side with ALAFDHAL as I think he still has races in him off his current mark.
He went down less than a length having been given a lot to do at Lingfield and we know this track suits him better having won on his last four outings here. He will be ridden to come late and looks the way to go. Of the rest Crimson Sand probably needed the run on stable debut at Lingfield last time and better can be expected here looking at his previous form.
