First-time gelding Maasai Mara has shown enough in previous starts to suggest that he can figure prominently, although connections now reach for blinkers and he has to prove his stamina. Hampden Park and Flowers are both interesting newcomers.

WOODSTOCK built on his promising debut performance when scoring readily over this trip at Chelmsford 18 days ago and, with further improvement on the cards, he will take some stopping in his bid to complete the double. The other experienced runners need to improve a fair bit to get near the selection, so newcomers Tempered Soul and Chriszoff are put forward as the main dangers. They both represent stables that can certainly get one ready first time out.

ALZAHIR is a fascinating contender as he won a local Group 2 in Doha last month and that puts him in with a leading chance in this tight-knit contest. His main threat appears to be Brave Emperor, who won a Listed contest at Cagnes-Sur-Mer on his latest start and looks to be on the improve. Another to note is last-time-out winner Lieber Power.

This looks an open contest but a chance can be taken on GOLDEN RULES, who has Oisin Murphy booked on his return from a long lay-off and making his first start for the Deborah Faulkner yard. The six-year-old was last seen not being beaten far in the Ascot Stakes off 2lb higher and he could take this if retaining any of that ability. First Emperor continues to be in fine form and was only beaten three lengths off this mark last week over C&D, while Military Two Step has proven to be competitive off this rating and could have a say.

FOREVER DREAMING benefitted from first-time blinkers when getting off the mark at Southwell just over a fortnight ago and, with Oisin Murphy retaining the partnership, it would be no surprise to her go in again. The biggest threat is likely to come from Jenever, who was cosy winner last month and there may be more to come from the lightly-raced four-year-old. Hot Diggity Dog ran his best race since joining Tony Carroll when a staying-on sixth at Newcastle and is worth a market check.

TORBELLINO didn't enjoy the clearest of passages when runner-up over C&D a fortnight ago and she may well gain some compensation this time around. The Jamie Osborne-trained Hashtagmetoo was a comprehensive winner at Wolverhampton 11 days ago and, if getting her own way out in front, she could be hard to peg back. Of the remainder, Golden Dove has yet to run a bad race since switching to the all-weather and has claims if everything falls right for her.
