Despite lacking experience RARE MIDDLETON was heavily backed to make a winning debut over hurdles at Taunton and duly obliged always finding enough to come out on top. I didn’t think he did a lot wrong in the Adonis last month where he finished third behind Nusret. The runner-up Perseus Way acquitted himself well in defeat behind Jazzy Matty in the Boodles earlier this week so it is pretty solid form. This 4yo goes handicapping now off what looks a fair enough mark and if he improves again he has a big chance of getting back in the winners enclosure. Parramount was back to his best winning easily at Doncaster and has now won 2 of his last 3 so looks the obvious danger. Big Boy Bobby missed just a head to No Ordinary Joe at Kempton and is another one that could run well here.

With 4 wins from 6 runs this year WIN WIN POWER remains at the top of his game and I thought there was lots to like about the way he bounced back at Southwell last time. He stayed on well and was much the best on the day. He is turned out quickly under a penalty but if in the same form will likely prove extremely difficult to beat. Qaabil still only has just the 1 win to his name but he was only beaten a short head here last time so is a player off the back of that. Odd Socks Havana impressed winning at Newcastle and has won 2 of his last 3 now so could also get competitive if remaining in form. Rivas Rob Roy likes it here and isn’t badly handicapped if things pan out favourably. I’m struggling to see much else getting involved and it looks another decent opportunity for the selection to win.
