GYTO Saturday Notebook Double

I’m keen to chance CAN YOU CALL bouncing back at Uttoxeter on Saturday. This Passing Glance gelding ended last year on the up winning well at Catterick and then caught the eye on reappearance going down just a length to American Sniper who is a decent yardstick. He improved to bolt up by 8 lengths over C&D in testing ground back in December and ran too bad to be true at Cheltenham. These are calmer waters and if he bounces back he could easily win this. The ground should be ideal and all in all it represents a good opportunity. Mylesfromwicklow didn’t run badly on debut under Rules when second at Ffos Las and if building on that could emerge as the main danger to the selection. Butch has shown enough to think he could get competitive but he will need to jump more fluently to have a serious chance of winning this.

I’m surprised SPIKE JONES isn’t favourite for this as he looks to have a great chance. This son of Walk In The Park got his head back in front over C&D on Boxing Day running on strongly at the finish. He had Prince Des Fichaux back in third that day too. He was beaten at Lingfield last time but was held up and could never really get to terms with the leaders and only went down a length running on. He still looks handicapped to win off this mark and should be hard to beat with Danny Burton claiming 5lb. It is not just a two horse race though as Alkopop returns over hurdles and will have a say if on a going day. He unseated last time over fences but should find this a bit easier. Oscar Asche has been off for ages so it is hard to know what form he’ll be in. Carlow Farmer is way too unreliable to think he can spring an upset here.
