KOTMASK would have finished closer but for making a mistake late on when runner-up over C&D last Wednesday, and compensation could await with Rob Hargreaves now on board to claim a handy 10lb off his back. Mullinaree's stamina appeared stretched by the step up to 3m at Taunton earlier in the month and he's feared most now dropped to 2m3f, while the selection's stablemate Aggagio is another to note.
Prediction : 1st Kotmask 2nd Mullinaree 3rd Aggagio

KANSAS DU BERLAIS failed to justify strong support when finishing fourth over C&D last month, but, with the winner going in again since, the sneaking suspicion is that that contest was stronger than it first appeared. Gary Moore's inmate holds leading claims here and is given another chance. Awaythelad found a class 2 event at Kempton on Boxing Day a step too far, but he can't be discounted in this company. Privatearing rates as best of the remainder.
Prediction : 1st Kansas Du Berlais 2nd Awaythelad 3rd Privatearing

Lightonthewing notched a second success over fences when romping home over C&D last month and he isn't taken lightly off 7lb higher. Preference, however, is for the unexposed BALLYBEEN, who finished runner-up to a subsequent winner at Hereford on his chase debut in November and looks to have more to offer in this sphere. Walk In The Wild looked a progressive sort until faltering at Plumpton in December, but shouldn't be underestimated.
Prediction : 1st Ballybeen 2nd Lightonthewing 3rd Walk In The Wild

A facile winner over C&D last month, a 4lb raised mark looks unlikely to stop Monjules having a say in proceedings here, but marginal preference is for the David Pipe-trained HEURE DE GLOIRE. The daughter of Kapgarde bolted up at Leicester last month and should not be taken lightly now 7lb higher for that success, while Polyphonic completes the shortlist.
Prediction : 1st Heure De Gloire 2nd Monjules 3rd Polyphonic

In not the strongest of contests, it could pay to side with ABINGWORTH, who was last seen finishing a distant third over 3m1f at Plumpton. He was only half a length behind the winner over an extended 2m5f at this course on his penultimate outing, so a drop in trip can see him improve. Sir Rock is interesting on his return to Rules, while Mount South is another to bear in mind.
Prediction : 1st Abingworth 2nd Sir Rock 3rd Mount South

The vote goes to LOVE ACTUALLY, who is currently two from two over fences. The latest of her victories came at Kempton over 3m, for which she has been raised 3lb, and another bold showing looks assured. The top-weight Rose Of Arcadia looks to be her main threat, as the eight-year-old was highly tried in Listed company last time and steps back into calmer waters with Harry Kimber claiming 3lb. Do You Think completes the shortlist.
Prediction : 1st Love Actually 2nd Rose Of Arcadia 3rd Do You Think

Spike Jones had Prince Des Fichaux (third) behind when scoring on his penultimate start over C&D and he is fancied to confirm that form even with the pull at the weights. However, they could both struggle up against ALKOPOP, who returns to this sphere after unseating over fences last time. The nine-year-old finished a close-up third at Hereford two starts ago off the same mark and is a big player on that form.
Prediction : 1st Alkopop 2nd Spike Jones 3rd Prince Des Fichaux
