The Richard Hobson-trained LORD DU MESNIL is fancied to carry top weight to victory, as he ran a great race behind Grand National hope Le Milos on his penultimate start at Bangor and the handicapper has dropped him back to the same mark from that effort. His main danger comes in the shape of Ramses De Teillee, who has run respectively in this class the last twice and warrants plenty of respect, especially back on softer ground than last time. Uncle Alastair is interesting wearing a first-time visor.

This looks a wide-open contest, where MAROWN just shades the vote for the in-form Nicky Richards stable. The nine-year-old has slipped down to what looks an appealing mark, after being dropped a further 3lb for his latest effort here, and he is proven in testing conditions. Dubai Days ran in a better race than this last time and could have a say after being dropped 2lb for that positive display. Another to note is Overcourt, who returns from a long absence.

CRACK DU NINIAN bounced back to form when second at Newcastle last month and he merits the utmost respect off the same mark here. Beat Box is an obvious threat to the selection given his recent form, although he was well held when second last time. The rest all need to improve to score, but Big Blue Moon and Serious Ego are the pick of them.

Step Back merits plenty of respect but his last couple of efforts have not been his best and the vote goes to LATE ROMANTIC.
