GYTO's Monday Notebook Double pays 7/1.
15:15 Taunton
I’m keen to side with DOCTOR KEN at Taunton on Monday. He did well over hurdles and made a winning start in this sphere beating another good horse in Ree Okka at Aintree. He bumped into Gold Cup Bailly at Ayr but was beaten less than 2 lengths and freshened up again since clearly has more to come now. He is up in trip again which should suit and he is one I want to keep on side for now. Striking A Pose bounced back to form when third at Huntingdon earlier this month and could be the danger if improving on that again.
New Age Dawning is proving a little frustrating finishing second at Ffos Las and Exeter the last twice but he is another one if bringing his best could go close. Golden Whisky ran well when second to Fugitif at Chepstow but then pulled up at Sandown and will need to bounce back to have a say here which I’m struggling to see.
15:35 Southwell
The progressive WHITE RHINO looks worth keeping on side at Southwell on Monday. He didn’t show a great deal on his first three starts being sent off at big prices but improved a chunk to score at this track last month and then followed up when heavily backed at Wetherby. The assessor has had his say now raising him 15lb but he might still not a handle on him yet and I think he can bring up the hat-trick.
Republican finally ended a losing run to score at Hereford last month and if in similar form could be dangerous but he is by no means one for maximum faith. Bertie Blue goes handicapping and is another one that would come into it if improving. Leading Theatre ran well last time and the form has been well advertised since so he could have a squeak but I think they’re all playing catch-up against this fav who is still potentially well handicapped.
